Jennifer Schwab & NY Times tour “The Visionaire”

Featuring Sierra Club Green Home's own Jennifer Schwab

Jennifer Schwab takes NY Times editor, Tom Zeller Jr., on a tour of “The Visionaire”, a luxury, green high-rise in Battery Park, NY. The building is an uber-swanky, über-green — 251-unit, 35-story luxury condominium complex in Lower Manhattan that opened for business last fall. The building features Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) panels; a blackwater recycling system; a vegetation-rich “green” rooftop; amongst a host of other green features. The building just received its LEED Platinum Certification.

  1. Lina Says:

This building is amazing! I’d really love to see it someday!

  2. Nixon Says:

Wow, I really like this video! I’ve never heard of the “Visionaire” but I do know that there a few apartment buildings where I live that are pretty sustainable, using recycled materials and renewable energy.

  3. Allen Says:

It’s so great that apartment buildings are starting to think about sustainability. I wish that more home builders would do the same. A home already has a much larger carbon footprint, builders should be doing more.

  4. Makaylee Says:

Why was the “green” roof brown?!? Only teasing, I did like the building other than that. Maybe this video was shot in winter? ;)

  5. Elan Says:

Green can be fabulous too. If only I could afford it…

  6. Polly Says:

I love these types of buildings!

  7. Thomas Says:

What a fantastic building. I hope more like this will follow in its footsteps.

  8. Ashley Maguire Says:

I love the video and I love the “Visionaire”!

  9. Natalie Gonzalez Says:

Oh my gosh! I’ve read about this building but it’s so awesome to get to actually see a video on it.

  10. Chan Says:

What an awesome building, kinda makes me wonder tho…how does this look among the older buildings of New York?
