SCGH’s Jennifer Schwab talks with architect Scott Perry and tours his container studio project. Walter Scott Perry first began doing green designs in Santa Fe, NM in 1973 and he has been teaching green design since the 1990s.
This container studio project is a 4,000 S.F. green photography studio located in Joshua Tree, CA. It is a green photography studio that incorporates a generic and low-cost, Butler pre-engineered steel structure which acts as an armature incorporating various plug-in modules, including: 20′ and 40′ ISO containers housing an evaporative cool tower, mechanical equipment and film storage spaces; beam daylighting and passive ventilation equipment modules; solar pv arrays and water harvesting storage and drip irrigation distribution systems.
