Thanks,

I think the best thing to do is get FSC certified wood and actually request them for the certification, because some companies will try to screw you! :(

Most of us like to do something about a greener planet these days . Well I think have another solution for urban tree salvage that any home owner can do if they are able to use a chainsaw. This was my case when Hurricane Juan came through in 2003 . I designed and built several tools for milling the fallen tree where it lay. Today 2009 we have 99 % of our own home furniture, out door furniture including a gazebo and last we now have beveled wood siding for our home. This all done with a set of simple to use chainsaw tools I designed.

It's important to mention that reclaimed wood is a great option of building projects, but its important to get the clearance from your construction head... some does except such wood due to their collection chemical content or dust.

I am very conscious about what I consume, and I'm an avid recycler. It's depressing when I think that people who waste so much wood in construction negate any of the efforts made by people who are so avid about reducing consumption like I do.

I have read that deforestation is the number one cause of the hole in the ozone layer. I try to buy salvaged wood for my projects whenever I can.
