The LED energy saving light bulbs are the way of the future, they are more reliable and efficient even than the CFL light bulbs.

It is my unerstanding that when people say it is may understanding.

It means they are going to say something that has questionable origin and more like gossip than.

If you know how a CFL bulb works vs as Filiment bulb, you wouldn't say
"My understanding is they do not last because they are not made to turn on-off,"

Mythbuster examined the amoount of power saved by leaving lights on vs turing them on and off.

Turn them off.

I would love to know where you found CFL bulbs at .50ea. I just found some for $3-$4 each (off brand discount store). My problem is they have NOT lasted anywhere near the claim of thousands of hours. Replaced over 1/2 the bulbs in home 2years later not one is still working. My understanding is they do not last because they are not made to turn on-off, but made to turn on and leave on (not saving much). I really wonder where these claims are tested, I hope they have not left it up to energy star (major screw ups last few weeks). Wish LED lighting was more cost effective, bulbs $9 to $45

I didn't realize CFLs had mercury in them. But I guess if all bulbs have mercury you might as well get the energy-efficient ones.
