Every house and apartment should be equipped with at least one CO detector on each floor. Cheapest life insurance you'll ever get. If you buy one make sure you get one that uses grid power and has a BATTERY backup system! I got this one for my house http://www.digitalcarbonmonoxidealarms.com/

Shame on the Sierra Club for not promoting photoelectric detectors. Photoelectric detectors will sound 30 minutes faster than the radio-active ionization alarms that are banned in many European countries due to the disposal problem of the americium-241 material. The photoelecric will save your life in a smoldering fire. The ionization has a significant failure rate. The iionization also has many nuisance alarm problems.

Let's get up to speed Sierra Club.

CO is very serious and virtually invisible. If you think you have an issue, make sure you request professional help.

Who uses the oven to heat their home? Wouldn't that cost a fortune. That's really strange that someone would do that.
