Granite is so in right now. I don't really understand why either. There options out there that are just as nice and durable, but cheaper. People just want whatever is cool I guess. I'm glad that some people consider where their materials come from before purchasing. I like the article!

I've heard of that recycled glass counter top too! A friend of mine got that installed in her little BBQ area in her backyard. I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it was really cool-looking. And durable.

Isn't there some kind of new counter top product made out of recycled glass or something? My sister was telling me she was getting it in her house.

I really love bamboo but if it's going to have burn marks and stains, I'd rather not use it for my counter top. Maybe salvaged granite or something recycled.

Great article - I am glad you mentioned the option of using reclaimed wood as a material choice. Using something twice is almost always the best choice. Check out www.solemreclaimed.com for some amazing photos of end grain wood block countertops made from reclaimed wood.
