Anodized aluminium industry also uses perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), not TEFLON - that is exactly what makes them non-stick. It is not as safe as most people think!

Secondly, not all anodized aluminium are non-stick.

Judith,
Thank you for your question. The "nonstick" Calphalon pans DO have teflon. However, the regular Calphalon pans DO NOT, those are anodized aluminum. Some sources suggest that Calphalon may not use teflon in their non-stick pans, but other unpublished non-stick chemicals are still used, the health hazards cannot be determined without knowledge of the chemicals. Either way, we would recommend that you stick (no pun intended) with the regular Calphalon products.

I believe one of the problems with Teflon and other plastic linings is that they are not safe when heated beyond a certain (uncertain?) temperature, causing them to break down and contaminate the food. I prefer stainless steel or cast iron.

As to ceramic cookware, I believe some companies (like le creuset) will re-enamel them. As to aluminum, since the jury is still out, how safe is anodized aluminum cookware?
It might also be noted, that if you cook your food on med-high with a little oil after the pan has heated, you really don't need non-stick cookware.

sometimes recycling is just difficult, especially if you live in an apartment complex! mine doesn't do it, so i have to take the recycling out and sort it. it's a pain, but it's necessary

If you take care of teflon pans and actually properly use them, nothing will chip into your food. it's not htat complicated to take care of it.

using plastic containers for your food is so outdated and just unhealthy! even if they are BPA free. I use alluminum containers and just take them in my huge purse when we go eat, bc i can also take leftovers in them... and no more styrofoam ppl PLEASE

i dont think you can recycle ceramic, perhaps if it doesn't have a lot of paint on it. i would recommend you just use aluminum or steel so you can recycle it
