Findsolar.com has a nice search engine for solar providers based on your zip code entry. They will call you, get more details about your house, and then set you up with providers in your area. I did this and got two competitive bids. Before the respective providers came out they called for a brief on my property. I asked them for brands of solar panels they carried and their respective manufacturing guarantees on their panels. It is important to know manufacturing guarantees on their panels before engaging a small provider. You want to make sure your panels are covered for the duration regardless of a potential industry shakeout. Let me know if you need additional tips.

Anybody had any luck figuring out who to call to get a good quote on putting in solar? I live in Chicago and I haven't had much luck finding a reputable person.
