Eliminating shaving cream cans and tampons

Thanks for your comments. The shaving soap sounds ideal, thanks to the limited packaging and the amount of times you can use it. I use Tom's of Maine toothpaste and deodarant. In general, they both work great. Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming! Jennifer

This is probably old news but what the heck. I don't know the statistics of how many shaving cream cans and tampons are produced per year it has to be up there and the production of these products can't be the greenest thing around. There is also the question of how much of these end up in landfills. You can save money and eliminate the disposal/recycling of cans of shaving cream by using shaving soap. A bar costs anywhere from $2.50 to $10 and lasts a long time. I started using it and it works as well as any foam/gel/etc. It is actually a little fun being retro. No cuts yet. There is even organic shaving soaps available. In addition my daughter interested my wife into using a Diva Cup in place of tampons. One time cost of about $30 and no more buying and disposing of tampons. She finds it very convenient.
