Constructing a home

Hi Rebecca, Having designed and built a number of homes and sold hundreds in them, an important consideration is always resale. Sometimes, people imagine they'll live in a house forever and build something so peculiar to their tastes at the time. Since solar panels, rain catchment and roof heights can all be designed into a number of styles, I suggest you consider other designs before committing to something as different as an inverted V. It's your home, not the architect's. Oops, I just saw your post was from nearly a year ago. I'd be interested in an update and what direction you decided on. Best to you!

Dear Rebecca, I wanted to refer you to the Indy House. Please check out http://ehapc.wordpress.com/category/indy-house/. I believe the schematic design section, particularly Option D, is most applicable to your project. The Indy House example shows the design process in selecting a roof and the benefits attached to each. Good luck!

Hello, We are building a new home and our "green" architect has proposed a v-shaped roof for maximizing passive solar heating, minimizing roof height, and facilitating rainwater capture. Does anyone know of a home built with this kind of roof? Thanks. Rebecca
